The Washington State Potato Commission has elected a new Executive Committee. WSPC named Rex Calloway the Executive Committee Chairman during last week’s annual meeting in Moses Lake. Calloway said the commission will continue to take a proactive role on key issues impacting Washington Potato growers and the industry.
Calloway replaces Mike Dodds who has chaired the commission since July 2015.
“The Commission and staff will continue to take a proactive role on key issues that impact our industry and I’m excited to continue building upon all of the great works that has been done by everyone who has served in the past. Said Calloway. “We want to do what we can as a commission to continue to serve the industry and help the growers throughout the state focus on producing and marketing their crops.”
“It’s been a busy year for the commission and staff,” said Dodds. “We were able to host our industry summit and hear from our growers and other industry representatives about the key areas for the Commission to focus on relating to research needs, legislative issues, communication activities, and educational programs.”
Dodds will continue to serve on the commission and on the WSPC’s Executive Committee. The members of the WSPC’s Executive Committee include:
- Stacy Kniveton (Pasco), 1st Vice Chair
- Roger Hawley (Burlington) 2nd, Vice Chair
- Mike Madsen (Plymouth), Secretary
- Derek Davenport (Pasco), Treasurer
- Mike Dodds (Moses Lake), Past Chair
Also occurring during this year’s annual meeting was the recognition of two commissioners who will be stepping down from their board positions. Nelson Cox, or Warden and Darrin Morrison of Mt. Vernon each concluded their respective terms. Both men were elected and served as WSPC Chair during their tenure.
