Following weeks of above average heat, the Northwest continues to dry out. Latest USDA figures show over 85% of Washington is considered Abnormally Dry, the D0 designation. That’s a considerable increase from last week’s 48%. As of now, with the exception of the Peninsula, all of Washington is considered Abnormally Dry.
As far as Oregon is concerned, 55% of the state is labeled abnormally dry; up from last week’s 45%. Despite these recent increases, the USDA has yet to declare a drought of any kind in the Northwest.
